A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization
Where it All Started
The South Texas BBQ Bash, established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in July 2021, aims to reciprocate the generosity of the community towards Energy Industry workers. Originating from a team of founders employed by a respected mid-size operator in West Texas during 2020, the onset of the Covid Pandemic and tightened industry budgets shed light on the plight of elderly community members. Many were found to be lacking basic necessities, including food, familial support, and transportation, surviving on just one meal daily provided by a compassionate local resident. Moved by this discovery, a few of us decided to organize a lively BBQ competition to raise funds, with the primary goal of aiding the most vulnerable within our community.
By 2024, the Texas BBQ Bash has successfully raised over $1 million, directed towards charitable endeavors benefiting the oil and gas communities across Texas. These efforts encompass providing free meals, entertainment, and monetary contributions. Since its inception in 2020, the event has attracted over 200 competitive Pitmasters from across the nation, all vying for the esteemed title of Texas BBQ Bash Competition BBQ Pitmaster.
